Opposition to wait until govt. comes out with final report on pay revision

DPT has assured all that the opposition will perform their duty to the best

In the wake of several media approaching the opposition party, the DrukPhuensumTshogpa (DPT), and seeking their views on the proposed pay revision of public servants by the Pay Commission, the party has maintained that they have not made any specific comments and requested them to wait until the government comes out with its formal report.

According to the press release issued by the party on Wednesday, the Pay Commission (PC) is an independent body charged with the responsibility of submitting recommendations to the government. We trust that the PC has done works in the best interest of the people and nation within its given mandate.

“However, its report at best remains only recommendations and the Cabinet can submit a separate report to the Parliament. As such, while we have studied the report and also read the feedbacks in the mainstream and social media, we felt it premature and irresponsible on our part to pass comments at this stage,” stated the press release.

Further, DPT has assured all that the opposition will perform their duty to the best.

“Our duty will be to keep the Government fully honest and accountable to each of their numerous pledges, among others, narrowing the gap between rich and poor. Once the Government formally comes out with its final report, we will thoroughly review the reports and prepare our findings and position both for public information and debate in the Parliament,” the party stated.
