First Indo-Bhutan collaboration movie ‘Rolong’ to release by mid-2020

With shooting started from July 18 this year, the first Bhutan-Bollywood project movie Rolong is expected to release by mid-2020.

The project will add to the existing bilateral ties by further strengthening the already strong Bhutan-India Friendship.

“The film is not about walking dead but it is about rituals,as a particular ritualcan make a dead person alive but not in the form of zombies,” said popular Bollywood Director and movie Director for Rolong, Faisal Saif.

In addition, he said the movie would portray greed, betrayal and a psyche of a person or an individual outsider who comes to Bhutan, the country of love and peace and how that outsider creates anenmity or demonic atmosphere and manipulates innocent people into wrongdoing.

The cast and technical crew would be from Bhutan and India with Bhutanese cast and crew in important roles and positions. The project would greatly enhance the expertise of Bhutanese cast, as well as build up the technical capacity and production value of the local Bhutanese films.

“It will be an entertaining potboiler as there will be lot of drama and thriller elements and the audience can expect a world-class film,” said Sonam Maekay Penjor, an actor in the movie and producer of Blockbuzster Productions.

He also said movie would have lots of twists and turns and would realistically portray theBhutanese culture and life.

Bhutanese actor Tenzin Jamtsho would play in the movie with actresses Sonam Choki, Cheki Lhamo, and Karma P Wangmo.

This movie would be 100th for the popular comedian, Phurba Thinley who will play a serious role.

The movie is worth Nu 100mn and would be screened in over 1,000 cinema halls across India in major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and internationally in the United States of America, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia.

A Russian American Composer would carry out the background score and post production work in Korea.

This will be the only Bhutanese film production company to shoot with a very sophisticated and high-end camera, The Red Epic Dragon on 6k raw version.

The movie would be released in four languages namely Dzongkha, English, Hindi, and Bengali.

“Bhutanese actors or cinema, five years down the line will be standing on equal collaboration with Korean and Japanese films,” said Director Faisal Saif.

Director Faisal Saif has directed Bollywood blockbusters like “Jigyaasa” based on the life of Mallika Sherawat and “Paanch Ghantey Mien Paanch Crore” that has been listed as the top ten films of 2012 by The Times of India.

Internationally, America’s leading cinema distribution network, has critically acclaimed his International film titled “Islamic Exorcist” to rave reviews in 2017.
