TCB ready to host major tourism event

The 31st joint meeting of the UNWTO Commission for East Asia and the Pacific and the UNWTO Commission for South Asia (31st CAP-CSA); the 57th Meeting of the UNWTO Commission for South Asia (CSA); the 53rd Meeting of the UNWTO Commission for East Asia and the Pacific (CAP) and the ‘UNWTO Regional Conference on Sustainable Development through Tourism’ will be held in Thimphu from June 3-5.

The meeting is hosted by the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB), Royal Government of Bhutan. It is UNWTO´s principal annual event in the Asia-Pacific region which will be attended by participants from UNWTO Member States, UNWTO Affiliate Members and international and regional organizations.

According to TCB, the meeting will be attended by more than 130 participants from around the world including China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia,  Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Timor-Leste, Vanuatu, Vietnam, Macau, Spain, Australia and Germany.

Meanwhile, key topics this year include the UNWTO´s Programme of Work for the Region; Tourism and Ethics; SDGs, Sustainable Consumption & Production through Tourism; Gross National Happiness through Tourism and other statutory issues related to the UNWTO Asia-Pacific Member States.
