Meal Temple Group expands into Bhutan

The Meal Temple Group (MTG), a leading startup in food delivery and last mile delivery in frontier markets in Asia, is now expanding into Bhutan by partnering and investing in DrukRide, one of the promising startups in the country.

The MTG has expanded in the last twelve months from Cambodia to Laos and Myanmar., meanwhile, is a local startup based in Thimpuand founded by Jigme Thinley Yoezer Rinzin. It offers local and international travelers to book and buy bus tickets without visiting the bus stop. The service is available through a website as well as a mobile application.

“Both companies just entered an agreement, including an investment from Meal Temple Group to address the market in Bhutan and expand its operations nationally. Even if Bhutan is a small market compared to others in the region, it is totally untapped, and local customers are looking more and more to online and delivery services. Meal Temple Group will deploy its tech and operations locally through, that will become the first and only food delivery platform in the country, starting with the main city Thimpu,” states the press release from MTG.

It further states that more than 80 restaurants are already working with the local team to offer their meals to customers throughout the city, leveraging a network of thousands of drivers that DrukRide has collected through its ride hailing service called MyDrukRide.

The founder of, Jigme Thinley Yoezer Rinzin, said they are happy and excited to work jointly with MTG to explore new opportunities in Bhutan.

“Thanks to our local knowledge and their industry experience, acquired through other similar frontier markets in Asia, we will be able to address hundreds of daily orders within the next few weeks. We are also proud to participate in Meal Temple Group’s vision to address more than 100 million customers in frontier Asian markets in the next twelve months,” he added.

“The company will also offer a range of new services it is trying in other markets to eventually become the one and only super app in these markets. Meal Temple Group is continuing its expansion through strategic partnerships and investments throughout the region,” states the press release.

“Maxime Rosburger, Meal Temple Group’s founder and CEO is also willing to address the city pollution problem in all countries where they operate by switching its fleet to electric vehicles only, as they started doing so in Cambodia, and leading the way to cleaner cities.
