Govt. requests ACC probe into labor ministry

The government has requested the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to undertake an immediate and full investigation into the various training programs of the Ministry of Labor and Human Resources (MoLHR).

According to the press release issued by the Office of Prime Minister (PMO), the investigation has been requested based on the several informal complaints received by the PMO on the possible incidences of corruption and collusion by the MoLHR, particularly in awarding contracts related to trainings in India and to Japan.

In order to ensure independent investigation without any interference, the labor minister Ngeema Sangay Tshempo has requested for leave of absence until the investigation is completed.

The Prime Minister has accepted the labor minister’s request for leave. He will take full charge of the ministry with immediate effect till the conclusion of the ACC investigation.

Meanwhile, labor minister Ngeema Sangay Tshempo said that since the authorities believe in zero tolerance for corruption, he, in order to support ACC and facilitate smooth investigation decided to take leave of absence until the investigation is over.
