Two candidates join DPT

Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) announced two more names to represent the party in the upcoming elections.

Deo Kumar Rimal will contest from Shompangkha constituency in Sarpang as the replacement for former minister of information and communications, Nandalal Rai. The other candidate is Kinley Wangchuk, 43, who will represent the party from Kabjisa – Talo constituency of Punakha.

Thirty-three year old Deo Kumar Rimal holds a bachelors degree in computer science from RVS College of Arts & Science in Tamil Nadu, India from where he graduated in 2011.

Prior to joining politics, he worked in various private firms and as Midey-Tshogpa (volunteer) to business community. He hails from Lhayul village, Chhundzom gewog in Sarpang.

While, 43 year old Kinley Wangchuk is from Yewakha village, Barp gewog under Punakha and holds a Masters in public administration from Noida international University, Uttar Pradesh, India.

He worked as the principal for Desi High school, a private school, in Thimphu for five months (August to December 2017), Dy. Chief Dzongkhag Education Officer in Punakha Dzongkhag for six years (2010-15), principal of Serzhong Lower Secondary School in Monggar for seven years (2003 – 09) and teacher for Wamrong Lower Secondary School in Trashigang for five years (1997 -2002).

Till date, DPT has announced 24 new candidates and the party secured 15 National Assembly seats in the parliament in the 2013 elections.
