Three institutes win Quality Excellence Award 2018

Two Technical Training Institutes (TTI) of Chumey and Samthang and Jigme Wangchuck Power Training Institute (JWPTI) of Dekiling, Gelephu bagged the Quality Excellence Award 2018 held in the capital on Thursday.

TTI Chumey was awarded Appreciation award for continuous implementing of 5S (Sort, Set, Standardize, Sustain and Shine) and TTI-Samthang was awarded Appreciation award for best developing innovative instructional aids. JWPTI bagged the best institute award under the umbrella of Ministry of Labor and human Resources (MoLHR).

Both TTI Chumey and JWPTI were awarded a cash prize of Nu 100,000 each and Quality Excellence Certificate by the MoLHR Secretary, Sonam Wangchuk. A total of six TTIs and two Institutes for Zorig Chusum (IZC) took part in the award category.

Speaking at the event, the Labor Secretary said there is no end to continuous quality improvement as it needs to improve by the day and the management also needs to create innovative skills and ideas.

The main objectives of the award was to identify the best performing TTIs and IZCs training providers based on the set criteria, and also to encourage public training providers to maintain quality standards.

The objective also included assessing the strengths and weaknesses of TTIs and IZCs training providers related to quality of training and institute management.

The selection criteria were based on infrastructure, facilities and maintenance. The criteria also included governance, courses, human resources, trainees, quality management system and institute grade.
