A Bhutanese actor was arrested and detained by Thimphu police for stabbing a 39-year business man after they had a squabble over parking space in Olakha on August 5.
The incident was reported to police from the emergency ward of Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH) when the victim came for treatment.
The victim was stabbed below his left ribs and is said to be in a stable condition.
The incident took place in the morning and the suspect was arrested the same day in the afternoon from the workshop in Olakha.
In a statement to the police, the suspect said that the weapon used against the victim was in his vehicle. However, police has not recovered the weapon as the suspect threw it away.
According to the police, the suspect will be charged for aggravated form of battery. The Penal Code of Bhutan section 158 states that a defendant shall be guilty of the offence, if the defendant purposely uses physical force of an adverse nature on another person.
The offence of battery shall be a petty misdemeanor or misdemeanor, if aggravated circumstances are present, section 159 states.
A total of six stabbing cases have been registered with Thimphu police till date this year.
