His Majesty The King graced the opening ceremony of the 11th session of the parliament at the Gyelyong Tshokhang yesterday, thus kicking off the last session of the second parliament.
According to the tentative schedule of business issued for the 11th session of the second parliament, members of the parliament on Monday will look into the introduction of Interim Budget for Fiscal Year 2018-2019, Fiscal Report for Fiscal Year 2016-2017, Supplementary Budget for Fiscal Year 2017-2018, and Macro-Economic Status Report by the Finance Minister and refer to the Finance Committee.
A joint sitting has been tentatively scheduled on Tuesday (June 19).
Tuesday’s deliberation will be on eight disputed clauses of the Audit Bill of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2017 (Private Member’s Bill). Apart from the Report of the Public Accounts Committee, deliberation would also be made on review of Financial Audit Reports and the implementation status of 10th session resolutions. Apart from another joining sitting on Wednesday, deliberation will resume with continuation of PAC Reports and review of Performance Audit Reports.
Members of the parliament on Thursday will be looking into the presentation and deliberation on the Interim Budget for Fiscal Year 2018-2019, Fiscal Report for Fiscal Year 2016-2017, Supplementary Budget for Fiscal Year 2017-2018, and Macro-Economic Status Report by the Finance Committee.
And on the last working day of the first week, a Question Hour session has been scheduled accordingly with Group A, which comprises the Prime Minister, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Agriculture and Forest, and Ministry of Finance. Members on Friday would also look into the Adoption of the Interim Budget for Fiscal Year 2018-2019, Fiscal Report for Fiscal Year 2016-2017, Supplementary Budget for Fiscal Year 2017-2018, and Macro-Economic Status Reports.
The 11th session of the second parliament will also see deliberation on the Annual Anti-Corruption Report 2017 that would be presented by the Good Governance Committee.
Meanwhile, on June 28, a presentation has been scheduled on the Annual Report by the Prime Minister of Bhutan on the State of the Nation to the Druk Gyalpo and the joint sitting of parliament.
With deliberation mostly on disputed clauses of the Audit Bill of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2017, Revenue Collection and Management in Thromdes, May 2018, Performance Audit Report, Annual Anti-Corruption Report 2017 and ACC National Integrity Assessment 2016, the 11th session of the second parliament will conclude on June 29.
